Teleconference & Archive Bundle: Ethics Issues Arising in Estate Planning for Those in Different Family Contexts

Summary
We must have a high degree of sensitivity to the innumerable needs and concerns of clients regardless of their particular type of family or the position they may occupy within a family. This is especially true when working with couples in a non-marital relationship, blended families and multiple generations of the same family (contexts that sometimes overlap). These increasingly common engagements raise numerous ethics issues, including the following:

  • How best to construct engagement letters
  • Determining whether joint representation is desirable or even possible
  • Insidious conflicts of interest
  • Dealing with unrepresented individuals
