Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Interstate Compact: What, When, and Why

Description

Occupational licensing serves as a critical safeguard for consumer health and safety. Occupational licensing ensures that licensees have completed a minimum level of education and training and have met certification examination and practical experience requirements. A frequently encountered problem is that disparities exist across states in terms of both minimum requirements for licensure and renewal requirements, making multi-state licensing an expensive and complex hurdle for practitioners, such as telepractitioners, traveling therapists, and military spouses. In recent years, states and professions have recognized interstate compacts as a helpful tool in reducing the complex challenges of multi-state licensing. Interstate compacts establish mutual recognition of professional licenses across state borders, while ensuring service quality and safety while maintaining state sovereignty. The purpose of this webinar is to educate participants about the development, nature, requirements, and operationalizing of the ASLP Interstate Compact.
