Graduate enrollment has declined in CSD master's programs across the country. However, there are ways to maintain holistic admissions processes and successfully pivot to achieve goals of recruitment and enrollment in your program. This webinar presents active admissions processes with interview formats being used by two different programs in order to illustrate the feasibility of holistic admissions processes. We will also present ways to re-evaluate and review in times of low enrollment.

Speakers

Christine M. Carmichael, PhD, CCC-SLP
Our Lady of the Lake University

Dr. Chris Carmichael is Professor, School Director, and Graduate Program Director of the Woolfolk School of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Our Lady of the Lake University. She is also Director of the Voice and Swallowing Clinic and Lab in the Harry Jersig Speech-Language-Hearing Center. Her research has focused on respiratory dysfunction related to voice and swallowing deficits in neurogenic populations, electrical stimulation for dysphagia, myofascial release for voice and swallowing disorders, and respiratory training for long COVID. In addition, she researches and presents on holistic graduate admissions processes. She has presented at numerous local, state, national, and international conferences including SASHLA, TSHA, ASHA, CAPCSD, ATIA, Motor Speech, DRS.

Kerry Callahan Mandulak, PhD, CCC-SLP
Pacific University

Dr. Kerry Mandulak is Professor in the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Pacific University. Her research is focused on graduate admissions and specifically, she is an expert and enthusiastic advocate for holistic review in admissions processes. In addition, pursuing work in SoTL, specifically in inclusive teaching strategies and alternative grading to facilitate the academic success of all students, is what also brings her joy in her current position.
