The US Congress appears to be on the verge of liberalizing federal banking and drug laws, paving the way for insurers to more confidently enter the rapidly growing market for legal marijuana insurance. This session will provide a framework for identifying and analyzing marijuana-related loss exposures, enabling underwriters and actuaries to develop policy forms, underwriting guidelines, and rating plans. It also will identify public sources of marijuana loss data. Based substantially on an analysis of more than 800 marijuana-related loss events, this session will address:
