Armstrong is currently vice president, product integration and management at Allstate Insurance Company in Northbrook, Illinois. Previous roles include chief pricing actuary for personal lines, agriculture, mortgage services, and crop at QBE and global chief pricing actuary - consumer insurance at AIG. Armstrong is a longtime CAS volunteer, having served multiple terms on examination and professional education committees over the last 20 years. Armstrong also recently served on the CAS Board of Directors from 2011-2014 and on the CAS Executive Council as vice president-admissions from 2014-2017. Sean Kevelighan Sean Kevelighan joined the Insurance Information Institute as President and Chief Executive Officer in 2016. Previously, he was Group Head of Public Affairs for Zurich Insurance Group where he oversaw Government and Industry Affairs as well as Corporate Responsibility. He joined Zurich in May 2013 as Head of Government and Industry Affairs for North America, with responsibility for driving the public policy agenda in the region. Prior to that, he worked at Citigroup, Inc., as Head of Strategic Communications for its Global Consumer Banking business, and for Zurich, as Head of Group Media Relations in North America. He has served in various public sector posts in Washington, D.C. As a political appointee in the administration of President George W. Bush, he served first in the Department of Treasury as a spokesperson for economic issues, and eventually became Senior Advisor for the Office of Tax Policy. He was also the Press Secretary for the White House Office of Management and Budget. Additionally, he worked on Capitol Hill, serving on the staff of members of Congress; most notably as Legislative Director for Representative Bob Schaffer of Colorado. Sean's private sector experience in Washington, D.C. included positions at public affairs firms such as Edelman and Hill & Knowlton. He advised numerous multinational and FORTUNE 100 corporate clients on policy issue management programs, corporate reputation campaigns and crisis communications. Sean is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder. He and his wife Annik have three children. He is an avid enthusiast of exercise and outdoors, participating regularly in running events as well as the occasional triathlon. Ryan Michel Ryan Michel is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Allstate Insurance Company of Canada. He is accountable for the property and casualty insurance businesses of Allstate Canada Group of Companies (ACG). These include Allstate Insurance Company of Canada, Pembridge Insurance Company, Pafco Insurance Company, and Ivantage Insurance Brokers.Mr. Michel joined the Allstate Corporation in 1996 as an Actuarial Analyst. In 2001, he moved to Columbus, Ohio, to join the Nationwide Insurance Corporate Actuarial department. Returning to Allstate in 2004, he assumed progressive responsibility within the Corporation, focusing primarily on product development, risk management and regulatory affairs. He joined Allstate Canada’s Leadership Team in 2011 as Vice President and Chief Risk Officer, Enterprise Risk Management. In January 2016, he was appointed to the role of President and CEO.Mr. Michel has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and in business and economics from Wheaton College and an MBA from the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago. He is also a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries. A member of the Insurance Bureau of Canada’s Board of Directors, Mr. Michel serves on the Audit Committee and has chaired the Ontario Committee. He lives in Toronto with his wife, five children, and goldendoodle, Via. Since 2014, he has served as Board Chairman of the non‐profit, Safe Families Canada. Alice Underwood Alice leads the Insurance Consulting and Technology practice of Willis Towers Watson, comprising over 1,200 colleagues operating in 35 markets worldwide whose services and solutions help insurance industry clients manage risk and capital, improve business performance, and create competitive advantage. Alice’s actuarial career to date has focused on reinsurance and risk management. Before joining Willis Towers Watson in 2006, Alice led a team of actuaries and catastrophe modelers at Guy Carpenter. Prior to that, she led actuarial pricing teams for Zurich Re in both North America and Switzerland. In addition, Alice has held a number of volunteer leadership roles within the insurance industry, including serving on the boards of the Casualty Actuaries of Greater New York (CAGNY), the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS), and the American Risk and Insurance Association (ARIA). Alice holds a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from The University of Texas and a Ph.D. in mathematics from Princeton University as well as the FCAS, CERA, and MAAA designations. Victor Carter-Bey Victor Carter-Bey, DM, MBA, serves as chief executive officer of the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS), where he works alongside the CAS Board of Directors to implement strategic initiatives that add professional value and enhance the education of CAS’s 9,000 members. Prior to this role, Carter-Bey served as director of certification at the Project Management Institute (PMI), where he oversaw the development and implementation of product growth and workforce development strategies to enhance member value and engagement for over 1,000,000 global professionals in the project management profession. Carter-Bey has a Doctor of Management from University of Maryland Global Campus in Adelphi, Maryland and an MBA from the New York University Stern School of Business in New York City. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.
