Description

Since its onset, telematics data has evolved to become a leading indicator for understanding insurance risk. The now ubiquitous presence of smartphone apps for data capture has exponentially advanced the rate of adoption, and further, provides a more complete picture of of insurance risk via driving behaviors that include distracted driving. This discussion will address how mobile telematics data is captured, insights are derived, and cumulative data can be used to understand real-time shifts in mobility behavior and risk in a year as tumultuous as 2020.

Cancellations/Refunds
Registrations fees will be refunded for cancellations received in writing at the CAS Office via fax, 703-276-3108, or email, refund@casact.org , by January 15, 2021 less a $25 processing fee.

CAS Continuing Education Policy
The CAS Continuing Education Policy applies to all ACAS and FCAS members who provide Actuarial Services. Actuarial Services are defined in the CAS Code of Professional Conduct as “professional services provided to a Principal by an individual acting in the capacity of an actuary. Such services include the rendering of advice, recommendations, findings or opinions based upon actuarial considerations.” Members who are or could be subject to the continuing education requirements of a national actuarial organization can meet the requirements of the CAS Continuing Education Policy by satisfying the continuing education requirements established by a national actuarial organization recognized by the Policy. For further information regarding the CAS Continuing Education Policy please visit the CAS web site.

CAS Webinars may qualify for up to 1.8* CE Credits for CAS members.
Participants should claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. CAS members earn 1 CE Credit per 50 minutes of educational session time, not to include breaks and/or lunch. *The amount of CE credit that can be earned for participating in this activity must be assessed by the individual attendee. It also may be different for individuals who are subject to the requirements of organizations other than the Casualty Actuarial Society.

  • Megan Klein

    Megan Klein is the rating services and actuarial director at Arity, a technology company founded by The Allstate Corporation that provides data science and insight solutions for companies across the transportation ecosystem. She is responsible for the actuarial review and support of Arity’s telematics models, enabling insurance companies both inside and outside of the Corporation to execute on their goals around telematics. Megan joined Allstate Insurance Company in 2009 and progressed through several roles within the personal lines pricing department, developing ratemaking solutions for independent and exclusive agent markets. Prior to working for Arity, Megan was Allstate’s California pricing manager where she led a team responsible for the analysis and execution of strategic profitability and growth initiatives for the homeowners and private passenger auto lines of business.

  • Brian Faber

    Brian Faber is a manager on Arity’s Actuarial and Rating Services team. Brian helps Arity’s insurance and sharing economy customers understand how to leverage telematics to achieve their program goals. Brian has diverse experience across numerous personal, commercial, and specialty lines of business working in pricing, reserving, and analytics job functions. He is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with degrees in Economics and Actuarial Mathematics and is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society.
