Description

PLEASE NOTE: REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE 10 AM ET THE DAY OF THE WEBINAR.
DUE TO HIGH VOLUME OF DEMAND, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO GUARANTEE A SEAT TO THOSE WHO REGISTER 48 HOURS AHEAD OF THE WEBINAR TIME.

Using an insurance dataset [the Data Quality Challenge dataset], learn about how reframing data in a data model using Power BI can accelerate and empower your ability to interrogate, analyze, and report using data. This webinar will introduce key data modeling concepts specific for use in Power BI including data normalization, relationships, and computations. Beyond simple computations, you'll be introduced to the common visuals, how different visuals talk to and interact with each other, and the concept of "filter context". Finally, the webinar will close with a more detailed look into controlling filter context via CALCULATION and an understanding of the engine itself to drive more complex measure development.

At the end of the webinar, you will have an understanding about how Power BI processes data and how formulas work differently than in an Excel environment. You'll be able to look at and identify relationships among subsets of data exponentially faster, and you'll have the Data Quality Challenge dataset in both flat-file and data model form to experiment and play with, with instructions to go from beginning to end to learn the tool along the way.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Organize data in a meaningful Data Model within Power BI for interrogation.
  2. Understand the difference between Excel's formula language and Power BI's DAX formulas.
  3. Connect visualizations together for data slicing to present and discover connections across dimensional fields in the blink of an eye.
