Allergic Dermatitis
Is it a flea allergy? Food allergy? Feline atopic syndrome? All of the above? Once we figure out which etiology of allergic skin disease we’re working with, how do we determine the most appropriate therapeutic intervention with the limited options available for feline patients? This
session will focus on key points of diagnosing and managing the difficult feline patient with head and neck manifestations of allergy.

Alison Diesel, DVM, DACVD
Dr. Alison Diesel is a Clinical Associate Professor in dermatology at Texas A&M University. She graduated from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in
2005, then completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center in Norwalk, Connecticut. She worked
as an emergency clinician for one year prior to beginning a three-year residency in dermatology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine;
she became board-certified (ACVD) in 2010. She joined the faculty at A&M in the fall of 2010 where she helps guide veterinary students in the management of skin
disease in companion animals. Her main research interests lie in feline dermatoses, expanding knowledge of the cutaneous microbiome in companion animals, and
exploring radiation therapy as an alternative treatment option for dermatological conditions.
