Speaker:
Tammy Richards, RN, MSN, CPXP
Description:
Patient engagement requires a patient who is ready to take action. But a serious diagnosis can produce a range of emotions in the patient--helplessness, anger and surrender among them. This session will present a strategy, and an overview of techniques, for shared accountability for patient engagement across an organization, so members of the care team are equipped to build rapport with patients through empathy, trust and encouragement.
Learning Outcomes:
- Explain the difference between adherence and engagement;
- Describe an integrated framework for behavior change that educates and empowers patients and caregivers as experts in achieving long-term health goals; and
- Discuss ways to implement a positive behavior change mindset within an organization.
