Dying with Dignity - Hospice in "Black" America

This educational session offers a short, but impactful, journey into Black America’s relationship with death and will provide insight on related healthcare barriers, hospice-related myths, and cultural beliefs in the Black community.

Learning Outcomes:

  • List three (3) barriers that affect the delivery of hospice care to the Black community.
  • Define cultural competence in healthcare and how an increased awareness can improve a CCM's patient-care outcomes.
  • Describe two (2) examples of how they can increase their cultural competence and begin to close the access gap for hospice care with the Black community.
