The availability of non-regulated and synthetic drugs has created an epidemic of drug related deaths in America. Understanding substance use disorder and the increasing impact of easy access is crucial to raise awareness of the increasing risks to children and families. Through personal experience, the speaker brings firsthand knowledge of this crisis and a dedication to work towards change.
Learning Outcomes:
- Describe the issue of synthethic drug related deaths in the U.S. and rationale for continued increases.
- Explain the concern for lack of awareness and standard accountability from a legislative and law enforcement perspective.
- Identify the significance and urgency of the issue and why improvement will require decreasing the stigma.
