Early American Catholic History, 1492-1808

This online independent study course is part of a series that addresses the history of the Catholic Church in North America from the arrival of Christopher Columbus in 1492 to the present time. This course will provide a survey of the foundations of the Catholic faith in North America. It will focus on the earliest efforts at evangelization, the rise of Catholic presence in the English colonies, and the establishment of a lasting Catholic hierarchy and organization in the young United States of America.
