Workplace Spirituality in the Midst of Transitions (Mission Webinar)

1 Presentation 0 Sections

Presented on September 4, 2014
Catholic health care has extended its holistic vision of the human person to associates and physicians by creating opportunities for spiritual renewal within the workplace. Yet, one of the greatest challenges to the human spirit comes during times of rapid change, loss and transitioning to something that is unknown. In the last few years, health care has been undergoing tremendous transformation with staff reductions, shifting of resources from acute to non-acute settings and mergers and acquisitions. The future reality is still unknown. Those responsible for mission integration, spirituality in the workplace, organizational development, change management and human resources have been trying to deal with how to nurture the spirit of staff experiencing fear, grief, anxiety and uncertainty. This one-hour webinar explored the role of leaders who try to bring a spiritual component to times of transition. The presenters addressed the challenges and opportunities of change. They offered the scriptural and theological underpinnings that can help create a spiritual approach to transitions as well as a process that engages the staff who are directly affected by these changes. In addition, the presenters offered specific tools being used in their two Catholic health systems to assist staff through this time of health care transformation.
