In this course, Andre Van Mol, MD addresses the legal footing of conscience rights in America and the West, science related to sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI), intertwined and conflicting philosophies and ideologies, and what this means to medical professionals as they interact with their patients.

- Discuss the origins and legal protection of conscience rights in America and beyond.
- Cite and discuss scientific literature findings regarding the nature of sexual orientation and gender identity.
- Debate competing philosophical/ideological interests where conscience rights and SOGI meet in medical and public arenas.
- Identify challenges facing medical professionals caring for sexual minority patients.
