If you have ever wondered how the Department of Health and Human Services works with conscience and faith issues, this course will outline the specific laws and cases the organization handles. This presentation provides a description of the federal laws and regulations that protect conscience and religious freedom in health and human services, and recent actions the Office for Civil Rights has undertaken to enforce these laws and regulations.

Objectives:

  • Understand relevant federal laws and regulations that protect the conscience rights and religious freedom of health care professionals
  • Understand what participants can do if their conscience rights or religious freedoms have been violated
  • Identify recent actions the Office for Civil Rights and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has taken to enforce federal laws and regulations that protect conscience and religious freedom
