COVID and Children presented by Princy George, MD
Dr. George will teach healthcare professionals how to recognize the presentation of COVID-19 in children as well as discuss the risk factors for severe illness. She will also show how to diagnose Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in children. Finally, she will bring participants up-to-date on the vaccine trails in children.

One Story of Two Stigmas: The Opioid Crisis and Racism in America presented by Warren Yamashita, MD, MPH
The history of addiction and racism in America are often told separately. This presentation will review the intertwined relationship between substance use and racial bias during the 20th and 21st century. We will review the latest literature on how the opioid crisis affects all races and ethnicities as well as the concerning trends in synthetic opioid overdoses. We will also look to next steps and strategies for overcoming and healing both addiction and racial bias in America. This talk will provide a theological lens for how to discuss addiction and racial disparities with secular colleagues from a faith-based world view.

Post-COVID Syndrome presented by Jad Kebbe, MD
The acute SARS-CoV-2 infection can range from asymptomatic to deadly, and anywhere in between. Symptomatic patients who survive the infection often experience prolonged symptoms such as memory loss, fatigue, anxiety, dyspnea, and others. Some patients call themselves "long-haulers." The medical community is progressively taking note of the long-term physiological and psychological changes after a COVID-19 infection. Where do we stand on these matters today?

Faith, COVID-19, and the Good Samaritan: A Call to Action presented by Emily Smith, PhD
As an epidemiologist whose work is motivated greatly by my faith, my career has been anchored around helping the most vulnerable. I’ve often called the field of epidemiology, “the field of the Good Samaritan” (and interpreting the data through that lens). During the current pandemic, we know who the vulnerable are – and we also know what it means to not walk on by. What if the greatest expression of faith we can give to the world includes not walking by? That means doing what the Good Samaritan did – he inconvenienced himself to serve. In this session, we will discuss ways in which the Good Samaritan story has and has not been displayed in the current pandemic for our neighbors.

Pornography - The Public Health Crisis presented by Jennifer Fischer, PA
Pornography is an unregulated industry profiting off underage children, non-consenting adults and drives sex trafficking. It is streamed live on every electronic device despite filters, exposes our children to harmful images, is teaching sexual violence, racism, and depersonalizing people. It changes brain chemistry.

The Intersection of Human Trafficking and Healthcare presented by Sharmayne Brooks, MD, MPH and Jennifer Fischer, PA
Human trafficking is a major global health problem, one that healthcare providers cannot ignore. While they largely go unrecognized, victims may be seen in healthcare practices for STIs, pregnancy and trauma/physical violence. Healthcare providers should be prepared to identify, treat, and assist victims, both sex and labor trafficking as part of their regular clinical practice.
