Genetic engineering and medical research is advancing at an ever-increasing pace, with some new technologies offering opportunities to treat a number of diseases and human suffering. Some treatments respect the human dignity of patients, but some do not. So how far is too far? What should the Christian response be to emerging biotechnologies that hold both promise and peril?

This webinar is designed to help both Christian healthcare professionals and church leaders address these new ethical educations and stand with confidence for the dignity and sanctity of human life.

List of Learning Objectives:
  • Define transhumanism.
  • Describe how the advances in genetic engineering and the development of increasingly sophisticated prosthetic devices hold promise and peril.
  • Discuss the Christian response to genetic engineering and the development of increasingly sophisticated prosthetic devices.
  • Compare transhumanist aspirations with the fulfillment of human longings in Christian eschatology.
  • Discuss why extending the reach of brain-computer interface technology beyond therapy, to enhancement of capacities beyond what is normal for humans, would step outside of the proper role of medicine.
