This session will explore the theological basis of virtue ethics and will introduce the learner to the work of renowned physician-ethicist, Dr. Edmund Pellegrino. We will examine the unique calling of the Christian physician in today's culture, including the clinical encounter, mentoring the next generation of physicians, assisting the local churches, and providing care to the public.

  • Describe the centrality of virtue ethics in the practice of medicine.
  • Identify the clinical encounter as paradigmatic of faith-based medical care.
  • Discuss the need for medical trainee mentorship, local church education, and public square advocacy.

Accreditation: Christian Medical & Dental Associations is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
