This session will start with a short overview of Type 2 Diabetes in the adolescent patient, followed by the time course of complications as these patients transition into adulthood. It will then review the treatment options and considerations when choosing medications for patients of all ages based on different patient characteristics.

• Identify the burden of complications from Type 2 Diabetes over time in patients diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes while in adolescence.
• List the available non-insulin treatment options and summarize the evidence for their use in different populations.
• Discuss a patient-centered approach to selecting Type 2 Diabetes treatments.
