Susan
Plough has a diverse background in both Nursing and in Case
Management. She has served as Executive Director of Medical Management with
Physician Hospital Organizations as well as Director of Hospital Case
Management for both large multi-hospital healthcare systems and smaller Case
Management departments in the Midwest. She is a Board Certified Clinical Nurse
Specialist in Community Health as well as a Certified Case Manager. Currently
she is on the Faculty for Indiana University School of Nursing and does private
geriatric case management for Senior 1 Care. Susan is Chairman of the National
Public Policy Committee for CMSA and is a Board Member and Past President of
the Central Indiana Chapter of CMSA. She has published nationally and has
presented both locally and nationally on case management topics. |
Eric Bergman, RN BA CCM, is Health Plan
Outreach Manager for Compass Rose Benefits Group, a small insurance association
serving US government employees through the Office of Personnel Management. He
is leveraging his many years of experience in public speaking, writing, and
organizational leadership to engage and support the members of the health plan
in their health care literacy journey. Eric served on the Case Management
Society of America, Chicago Chapter (CMSA Chicago) Board of Directors and later
as President from 2014 to 2021. He served two terms (June 2018 - June 2020) as
Presidents’ Counsel Representative for the national organization which includes
a seat on the National CMSA Board of directors. |
Debra Emery, BS, CCM, CBIS has served as case manager for spinal cord and traumatic brain injury survivors since 2011. Debra was elected to the CMSA Detroit Board of Directors in 2020 and serves on the public policy and partners committees
Joan Sevy Majers is a graduate of the first
nursing school established in the US on the Nightingale Plan, Bellevue
Hospital. She received her BSN and seven years later, her master's. Then, after
seven more years, she completed her doctoral degree in 2014. In September of
2016, she joined the faculty of University of Cincinnati. Currently, she is the
coordinator for the doctoral programs at the College of Nursing and has
received approval for a post graduate certificate program for individual
clinicians who want to become case managers.
Connie Sunderhaus, RN-BC, CCM, is Vice President
of CXJ Corporation and managing consultant of the Health Care Group. The
company offers educational programs, product enhancement, and management
consulting in the case management arena. Connie’s past clinical experience
includes case management, patient education, and home health care. Clients
include medical management companies, clinical software organizations,
pharmaceutical companies, and educational programs. Connie was the 2009-2010
Treasurer of the Case Management Society of America (CMSA), an appointed member
of the Public Policy Committee, a past officer, and represented the
organization with the Joint Commission. Connie is a Past President of the
Chicago Chapter of CMSA, and an active member of various community
organizations.
Joan Westgor, MSN, RN, CCM has been a CMSA member
for 12 years. She has been on the Alamo Chapter board for many years, involved
with conference planning, and developed the Public Policy Committee. The
grassroots efforts were highlighted by monthly reports of congressional bills
affecting CM advocacy and healthcare. Joan was the Chapter Public Policy
Liaison to the National CMSA Committee, and a Board Member of the National
Nursing Network Organization for six years advocating for the National Nurse Act
on local and congressional levels. Joan has also participated with a non-profit
group at the Texas State Capitol and DC in 2018. She continues to serve the
board as Public Policy Director. Joan’s
commitment, for what was known as Community Health, began early in her Diploma
of Nursing education when the words of the instructor piqued her interest in
“the patient’s discharge planning begins at admission”. Continuing with a BSN
and MSN degree in Community Health her career path revolved from in-patient clinical
nursing into Utilization Management/Discharge Planner/Case Manager roles. Joan
worked almost exclusively in San Antonio’s Air Force and Army hospitals,
retiring on 12/31/2017.
