In light of the federal government’s recognition of the national opioid epidemic and the release of the CDC Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Chronic Pain, physicians need to recognize and understand the importance of a multi-disciplinary and multi-modal approach to treating chronic pain.
The purpose of this enduring material is to increase physician knowledge regarding treating chronic pain patients. In order to provide the highest quality of patient care, physicians must know the tools and resources available in treating this complex patient population. Providers will understand the mechanisms and types of pain as well as learn the classes of medications, physical modalities, and interventions utilized to treat chronic pain.
