Sustainability Through Innovation

About This Program

Sustainability and conservation must begin at manufacturing facilities. By reducing waste and maximizing productivity we can keep materials out of landfills and maximize the utilization of resources. When most building materials, including roofing that typically has a long life cycle, reach the end of their useful life, the amount of material can be large. Learn how to focus efforts around new product development and the introduction of new programs for improving the sustainability of building materials.

Session Takeaways

  • Identify products that minimize environmental harm or impact
  • Recognize aspects of recycling that make sure waste from product packaging is recycled
  • Become comfortable with choosing products that reduce VOCs and maintain performance
  • Utilize roof color to your advantage whether you are trying to reduce heating costs in heating dominated climates or trying to reduce air conditioning costs in cooling dominated climates
