About This Program
This course provides an overview of the advantages of using moisture-resistant fiberglass shaftliner panels for 2- and 3-hour area separation walls in multi-family multi-level housing. Architects and designers will gain an understanding of proper installation methods, detailing and specifying Area Separation Walls. We will review several special conditions that apply to these systems as well as cover comparative systems used to build an Area Separation Wall.
Session Takeaways
- Learn performance advantages of fiberglass gypsum shaftliner panels in 2- and 3-hour area separation walls as compared to OSB Magnesium Oxide coated board, concrete block, paper-faced assemblies and several one-hour firewall systems.
- Understand the proper installation of 2- and 3-hour area separation walls and the associated system components.
- Learn the IBC code requirements for fire blocking.
- Review accurate details for roof junctions, roof parapets, exterior wall intersections, floor intersections, exterior wall junctions, offset slabs and offset partitions and understand their importance in Area Separation Wall system designs.
