Description

About This Program

There are not enough hours in the day to keep up with all the changes related to the building enclosure. Changes to codes, materials, strategies, green building programs can make you dizzy and ready to just give up! Well, do not fear, the Air Barrier Association is here! Learn the most up-do-date test methods, standards, key items to update in your specifications and understand the impacts of moving to Net Zero buildings and how building airtightness plays a key role. We have to go from OK building enclosures to super high performance to not rely solely on renewables to meet Net Zero goals. It's not just about air..... we need to talk about moisture and we will review important aspects to consider from a moisture management strategy. Who cares if we feel a draft or pay more for energy? We care more about keeping water out of our walls!

Session Takeaways

  • Define performance requirements that are critical in achieving Net Zero by increasing a buildings airtightness.
  • Identify the top 5 updates to your specifications for Division 1 and Division 7 items related to airtightness and moisture management.
  • Articulate a series of steps to achieve a Net Zero building by maximizing the building enclosure functionality and performance.
  • Quantify and model moisture management strategies by effective building enclosure tools to convey benefits to an owner.
