A "Control" State is one where the liquor regulatory agency is in the business of wholesaling and/or selling distilled spirits at retail, as opposed to a “license” state where these activities are privatized. Control States can be terrific and productive partners, however there are many unique requirements in these states that suppliers must account for when doing business in these states. This Elective Course will detail common Control State requirements and explore how participants can best navigate them to grow and push their brands forward.

Learning Outcomes:
1. Understand the control state scheme, identify which states utilize this system, and learn what it means for your business
2. Learn common control state requirements, such as product registration, price posting, and bailment warehouses and agreements
3. Determine how to best navigate these requirements to ensure your products are not delayed entering these markets
4. Decide how to best work with control state officials to troubleshoot any issues you may encounter and
5. Learn from industry experts about their experiences and tips for meeting control state requirements
