Both transmission development and interconnection processes are
critical elements in the process of integrating new resources into the
grid. Interconnection queues continue to grow, almost exponentially. And
substantial transmission build out has been identified as necessary to
address both delivery and reliability issues. The panel will explore:
- How the transmission planning and interconnection processes affect the development and integration on new resources into the grid
- Recent developments from the perspectives of the grid operator, state regulators, and affected transmission developers
- FERC initiatives with respect to both transmission planning and interconnection queue reforms as they may affect potential reforms
