This training will explore tools, techniques, and responsibilities with utilizing bibliotherapy in a Supervisory context. Bibliotherapy is an empirically validated expressive arts therapy encouraging connection through storytelling, narratives, poetry, and the written word. The connection and identification strengths in bibliotherapy magnify a Supervisors ability to grow the Supervisee's confidence, competency, and skills. Bibliotherapy can be used to enhance the effectiveness of the supervisory relationship as well as the Supervisee's toolbox.

Objectives:
1. Participants will discuss supervisory responsibilities in the context of relating through multiple mediums including bibliotherapy.
2. Participants will explore challenging issues and identify 2 supervision interventions that explore articulating challenges.
3. Participants will learn appropriate ways to enhance and increase connection and observation in Group Supervision.

  • NanDee Walker, NCC, LPC-S, RPT

    NanDee Walker, NCC, LPC-S, RPT has been working with children and their caregivers for over 20 years. NanDee is a graduate of NSU and has been working as a supervisor and play therapist in the Tulsa community for over 7 years. NanDee has developed and led multiple consultation groups over the years to support therapists both receiving and providing supervision in the counseling field. NanDee is a published author with a deep love for the written word in all its forms.

  • Melissa Winterscheid, LPC-S, RPT-S

    Melissa Winterscheid, LPC-S, RPT-S has provided trainings within the counseling, play therapy and sandtray community for many years. Melissa has served on multiple local, state, and national counseling committees, and currently sits on the Oklahoma Play Therapy Association board. Melissa has an extensive background of over 11 years in school based therapy and has maintained a private practice for over 5 years. Melissa is a gifted teacher and tainer and enjoys talking about 'all the things' with fellow therapists and supervisors.
