Get Your Game On! Play Therapy Conceptualizing and Treatment Planning with Board Games


In this workshop, learn how to intentionally pick games and use them to conceptualize play therapy treatment planning.

Learn to adapt board, card, and puzzle games to improve socialization and life skills.
Use at least 3 different games to explore Crucial Cs and Therapeutic Powers of Play for conceptualization
Discuss and share resources/options for selecting age and developmentally appropriate games for varying clients
Review barriers to using games in the playroom

  • Brandy Guidry, MA, LPC-S, RPT™

    Brandy graduated in 2015 from Southern Nazarene University with a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology. She works for Transitions, Inc. and provides therapy to children and adults individually and as a family with an emphasis on treating trauma and through a primarily Adlerian lens. She is a Registered Play Therapist with a passion for play therapy, establishing healthy and positive attachment in parent-child relationships, and promoting cultural diversity and inclusion in the mental health field. She is a Certified facilitator for Circle of Security, an attachment based parenting program, rostered in Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), and also a certified parent coach for Attachment Biobehavioral Catch-up (ABC).

  • Cassandra Bournival, LMFT, RPT™

    Cassandra “Casi” is a Licensed Marital and Family Therapist (LMFT), Registered Play Therapist (RPT) in the state of Oklahoma, and Certified Extraordinary Adlerian Play Therapist. Cassandra takes great pleasure in collaborating with parents and children in order to cultivate the essential confidence and abilities required to effectively address demanding behaviors, familial challenges, instances of trauma, or ADHD. Additionally, she provides assistance to adults seeking self-improvement, coping with trauma, managing ADHD, and grappling with anxiety. In her therapeutic practice, Cassandra implements interventions that encompass mindfulness, art, sand tray, and play therapy. It is worth noting that she follows an Adlerian model in her therapy, which prioritizes an individual's sense of belonging, fosters creativity, acknowledges the goal-oriented nature of all behavior, and recognizes the unique identity of each person. Furthermore, Cassandra is committed to offering affirming therapy and acting as an ally to the LGBTQ+ and Neurospicy communities.
