Safe and Effective Prescribing of Controlled Substances - Video 1

This course is designed to provide background on the opioid epidemic and provide and understanding of the basic pharmacology and appropriate use of controlled substances. With this course, the learner should be able to recognize and manage the high risk patient, as well as, understand appropriate monitoring for controlled substance aberrancy and compliance. 

About the Speaker: 

Jennifer Marjama is a Physician Assistant, who practices in the fields of Pain Management and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Gainesville and Chiefland, Florida.  She diagnoses and treats many musculoskeletal and neurological conditions, with a focus on restoring function and improving her patient’s quality of life. Jennifer practices PM&R in the inpatient setting of sub-acute rehab, as well as the outpatient setting performing both opioid and non-opioid pain management through procedures, including intra-articular injections, tendon sheath injections and various nerve blocks.
She enjoys educating people about the common misconceptions associated with managing pain. Jennifer enjoys spending time with her growing family; she is a busy mother to a rambunctious 2 year old boy. In her free time, she enjoys spending time on the water, fishing, playing with her dogs and relaxing by the pool. Jennifer and her wife are expecting their second son in May of 2019.
