Introduction to Patents Micro-Credential

Course Information
You are invited to take part in a research study that will evaluate the effectiveness of courses focused on patents. The findings will be used to design future courses aimed at federal technology transfer professionals. As part of this study, you will be asked to participate in a micro-credential course on patents and participate in a pre and post survey, as well as a pre and post test on patents. The results of the course completion and responses from the survey will be used to design future courses for technology transfer professionals.

Learning Outcomes
  • Define the key terms associated with patents. 
  • Identify the basic components of the patent life cycle. 
  • Demonstrate knowledge through a case study as well pre and post assessments. 
  • Describe the different types of patents. 
  • Recognize the sections of the patent application.
