Rules of Origin and Documenting Origin for the USJTA

The United States-Japan Trade Agreement (USJTA) entered into force on January 1, 2020. Nearly 90%
of U.S. food and agricultural products imported into Japan are now duty-free or receive
preferential tariff access. In order to receive preferential treatment, a good must be an originating
good and meet the preferential rules of origin of USJTA. Japanese customs have made some adjustments to the origination process as well as documentation. Join us as we review the USJTA rules of origin procedures as well as the documentary requirements to assist your customer with a duty-free or preferential duty customs clearance. These procedures will be mandatory and vary only by specific
product and rule of origin.
