The United States-Japan Trade Agreement (USJTA) entered into force on January 1, 2020. Nearly 90%
of U.S. food and agricultural products imported into Japan are now duty-free or receive
preferential tariff access. In order to receive preferential treatment, a good must be an originating
good and meet the preferential rules of origin of USJTA. Japanese customs have made some adjustments to the origination process as well as documentation.
