Course Description
Do you hear a patient say “I’m dizzy” or “I lose my balance when I turn my head” and want to crawl under the plinth to hide? Then this course is for you! Participants will understand the hallmarks of different vestibular disorders and learn to differentiate central from peripheral diagnoses. The course will also focus on utilizing subjective information to drive the chosen objective measures for evaluation efficiency. This course will allow clinicians to gain a better knowledge of the basics of vestibular therapy to provide the best treatment for your patient.

Learning Objectives
Discuss the anatomy of the vestibular system and co-morbidities that may affect it.
Learn screenings and red flags to determine peripheral vs. central causes of dizziness and balance disorders.
Understand differential diagnosis of common vestibular disorders.
Understand how a thorough subjective assessment drives the objective portion of an evaluation.
Learn appropriate tests and measures to determine the root cause of a patient’s symptoms and impairments.
Be able to provide effective treatments for your patient based on the impairments noted in the evaluation.
Be familiar with the Clinical Practice Guideline for vestibular disorders from APTA ANPT.
