About the Webinar
During this course, NPDB staff will share recent research on the role state sanctions have had on clinical privileging; changes they have implemented related to COVID-19; and information about overall usage of NPDB by state medical boards.
About the Faculty
David Loewenstein is the Director of
the Division of Practitioner Data Bank (DPDB), Bureau of Health Workforce (BHW),
Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), U.S. Department of Health
and Human Services. DPDB is the organization responsible for managing the
National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB). Prior
to becoming Director of DPDB in 2017, Mr. Loewenstein worked in various
capacities in BHW with the National Practitioner Data Bank and various
scholarship and loan repayment programs, including the National Health Service
Corps.
Before joining HRSA in 2012, Mr.
Loewenstein served as Assistant Director of the Office of Information
Management for the Environment and Natural Resources Division of the U.S.
Department of Justice, where his responsibilities included oversight of case
management data for the Division’s 600+ attorneys. Prior to his federal
service, he worked for private industry as a consultant, implementing business
and information technology solutions for large federal agencies, including the
U.S. Department of Education, the U.S. Department of Justice, and the Internal
Revenue Service. Mr. Loewenstein received a Bachelor of Business Administration
degree from the College of William and Mary in Virginia, with concentrations in
Finance and Public Policy. He is certified as a Project Management Professional
(PMP) by the Project Management Institute.
Harnam Singh, PhD, is a Chief research and data officer at
the Division of Practitioner Data Bank.
He serves as his agency’s subject matter expert on the design, conduct,
and execution of studies, evaluations, data analyses, data disclosure, and
complex public policy analyses for agency wide operations. He works with National Practitioners Data
Bank’s administrative data in conjunction with survey data to examine existing
trends, answer research/policy questions, evaluate programs, and to predict
future trends. He also serves as Health
Resources and Services Administration’s Chair for Data Disclosure Review Board.
Dr. Singh received his PhD in Experimental
Psychology from Iowa State University, Ames.
Before joining the Data Bank, he was a senior researcher at the Social
Security Administration. Dr. Singh’s research
has been reported in the APA Monitor, The New York Times, ABC News, London
Times, Pravda, the Melbourne Herald Sun, and in WEB MD.
Lisa Robin, MLA, is Chief Advocacy Officer of the Federation of State Medical Boards and leads the FSMB’s Washington, D.C., office. During her long tenure at the FSMB, Ms. Robin has been active in policy analysis, development and promulgation on issues including license portability, telemedicine, pain and addiction policy, scope of practice, professional conduct and ethics, and Internet prescribing. She represents the position of state medical boards to Congress and the Administration and supports individual boards in achieving their state legislative agendas. In her current position, she oversees the FSMB’s education services, federal and state legislative and policy services, and public affairs. Ms. Robin earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Texas Christian University.

The Federation of State Medical Boards' Annual Meeting as well as the Virtual Education Program are designed specifically for members and staff of state medical and osteopathic boards, as well as individuals interested in medical licensing, regulation and discipline.
