Carley Riley, MD, MPP, MHS, FAAP, Attending Physician, Cincinnati Children’s Division of Critical Care Medicine
Carley Riley, MD, MPP, MHS , is an associate professor
in Pediatrics at University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and an attending physician
in Critical Care and faculty co-lead of Population and Community Health at
Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Her mission is to cultivate the conditions and
systems for improving well-being and reducing related inequities for
individuals and communities through research, policy, and activism. She has
expertise in wellbeing, person-centered outcomes measurement, co-production,
community organizing, cross-sector collaboration and community-based
improvement science. Dr. Riley is actively involved in multiple national and
local endeavors, including the Wellbeing in the Nation Research & Learning
Network, the Yale Wellbeing Research Team and the All Children Thrive Learning
Network Cincinnati. Dr. Riley received a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature
and a Medical Doctorate from Northwestern University, a Master of Public Policy
from UCLA, and a Master of Health Science from Yale University. She completed
General Pediatric Residency and Chief Residency at Children’s Hospital Los
Angeles and Pediatric Critical Care Fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s
Hospital. Dr. Riley was a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholar at
Yale University from 2013-2015 and is currently a fellow with The Institute for
Integrative Health.
Lauren Bartoszek, PhD, CHES, Assistant Director, Population Health Strategies, The Health Collaborative
Lauren
Bartoszek, PhD, MCHES,
assistant director, Population Health at The Health Collaborative, helps lead
multi-sector, multi-stakeholder strategic partnerships that center equity and
focus on addressing the social determinants of health in the Greater Cincinnati
region. Lauren graduated from University of Cincinnati with a PhD in Health
Education and is a Master Certified Health Education Specialist. She is a
member of the Norwood substance abuse coalition, and of the steering committee
for Xavier University’s Center for Population Health. In her free time, Lauren
teaches fitness at Barre3 Mariemont; enjoys visiting new restaurants with her
husband, TC; and hanging out with daughter, Beatrice.
Jennifer Foster, Community Advisory Board Member
Shannon Welch, MPH, Senior Project Director, Institute for Healthcare Improvement
Moderator Shannon Welch, MPH, is
a senior director for the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. Her 14 years of
experience working in public health and most recent experience in healthcare
drives her passion and commitment to equity-focused work. Shannon’s current
portfolio of projects includes work on equity and population health
initiatives. Shannon recently led IHI’s Merck for Mothers Better Maternal
Outcomes: Redesigning Systems with Black Women initiative and the Pursuing
Equity Learning and Action Network that aims to reduce inequities in health and
health care access, treatment and outcomes by implementing comprehensive
strategies to create and sustain equitable health systems. Prior to joining
IHI, Shannon worked for the Oklahoma City-County Health Department as the division
director of Community Health. During her
tenure with the agency, she had primary oversight for a large, 350-member,
multi-sector coalition and a portfolio of community health programs.
Greg Kesterman, MPA, Health Commissioner, Hamilton County Public Health
Greg
Kesterman is
health commissioner for Hamilton County Public Health, an agency with an
operating budget of $20 million serving more than 495,000 citizens in 45
political jurisdictions in southwestern Ohio. Agency responsibilities include
epidemiology, immunizations, tuberculosis and sexually transmitted infection
control, food service inspection and licensing, plumbing inspection and
permitting, waste management, water quality, emergency preparedness and
response and health promotion and education. He has been with Hamilton
County Public Health since 2006.
