Description
Leaders will discuss the landscape of abortion access and reproductive justice in the wake of the Dobbs decision. Attendees will learn what public health can do to protect access to comprehensive reproductive health care, and how we can uphold and support the work reproductive justice advocates have been doing for decades. Regina works as a senior editor at The Nation, a print magazine
that has been around since 1865. At The Nation, Regina worked to recently
launched a free monthly newsletter, called “Repro Nation,” where you can find
all of the most recent reporting on reproductive rights as well as links to
resources for anyone seeking an abortion in the United States.
Benny Del Castillo, LICSW - DC Abortion Fund
Benny
Del Castillo, LICSW, is the current Board President for the DC Abortion Fund.
She became part of the DCAF community in 2014 as a Case Manager on the Spanish
line. Abortion access work is heart work for Benny. In her day time job, she is
a trauma therapist.
Jeryl Hayes, JD - If/When/How
Jeryl
Hayes, JD, has focused her legal career on social justice and gender equity,
with specific expertise in reproductive health, rights, and justice issues. She
currently serves as the Movement Building Director at If/When/How: Lawyering
for Reproductive Justice, where her role is to shape movement building
strategies, grow and evolve programs, and oversee the mobilization and
networking of law students and legal professionals to champion reproductive
justice within and beyond the legal system. Jeryl has previously worked on
federal reproductive health, rights, and justice policy for Physicians for
Reproductive Health, Advocates for Youth, and the Black Women's Health
Imperative, and has served in a leadership role at the DC Abortion Fund and the
Women's Information Network.
Hayley McMahon, JD - Emory University, Rollins School of Public Health
Hayley
McMahon, MPH, is a public health researcher and reproductive justice advocate
who works on structural and social determinants of abortion access in the U.S.
She is a doctoral student at the Emory Rollins School of public health and a
board member of Holler Health Justice, an abortion fund serving Appalachia.
