MODERATOR: Leyla McCurdy, MPhil
Leyla McCurdy, MPhil is the founder and chair of the Children’s Environmental Health Committee of the APHA’s Environment Section. She has over twenty years of experience in environmental health. Currently she is an environmental health consultant, board member of Children’s Environmental Health Network, and chairs ecoAmerica’s Climate for Health Executive Committee. She serves on several committees, including the American Public Health Association’s Center for Climate, Health, and Equity Advisory Board and the National Council for Environmental Health and Equity.

Katherine Catalano
Katherine Catalano is the Deputy Director of the Center for Climate, Health and Equity at the American Public Health Association. Katherine is a communicator, strategic planner, and leader with almost a decade of experience in climate policy, advocacy, and education across sectors and audiences with a particular focus on centering justice, equity, diversity and inclusion in every aspect of the climate movement. Katherine is passionate about applying her skills and experience to affect change and bring stakeholders together to advocate for climate justice and equitable health outcomes.

Nsedu Obot Witherspoon, MPH
Nsedu Obot Witherspoon, serves as the Executive Director for the Children’s Environmental Health Network (CEHN), where her responsibilities include successfully organizing, leading, and managing policy, education/training, and science-related programs. For the past 21 years, she has served as a key spokesperson for children’s vulnerabilities and the need for their protection, conducting presentations and lectures across the country. She is a leader in the field of children’s environmental health, serving on the External Science Board for the Environmental Influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO) NIH Research work. She is a Co-Leader the Health/Science initiative of the Cancer Free Economy Network and Co-Chair of the National Environmental Health Partnership Council.

Megan Latshaw, PhD, MHS
Megan Latshaw is the Director of the Master’s Degree Programs in the Department of Environmental Health and Engineering at the Johns Hopkins University.She also serves as co-chair of University’s Sustainability Plan Steering Committee, and as core faculty for the Environmental Challenges Focus Area of the Bloomberg American Health Initiative. As faculty at Hopkins, her efforts focus on designing healthy communities, connecting environmental health research with the real world, climate and transportation (all through a justice and equity lens).

Tiffany Canate, MPH
Tiffany has been passionate about the environment and promoting health since elementary school and has participated in many capacities over the years to advance them. Most recently, she has been leading the Children’s Environmental Health Committee’s Climate Change and Youth Education workgroup dedicated to promoting the Climate and Health Lesson Plan for High School Students. When she's not working, she enjoys hiking and is a self-taught artist.

Rhea Goswami
Rhea Goswami is an environmental justice activist from the Virginia, DC, Maryland area. She is the founder and executive director of the Environmental Justice Coalition, which is a national organization focusing on working with youth and communities to progress environmental justice efforts and creating a pipeline of future climate activists, researchers, scientists, and community leaders.

Catherine Callinan
Catherine Callinan (she/they) is a junior at Biotechnology High School and Public Health Policy Director at the Environmental Justice Coalition, where they write curriculum and policy briefs. Inside of school, she’s apart of Students of Service, Environmental Club, and Yearbook.
