Session Description
The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the need for high quality and accessible online dental education. The EDEMTET e-campus is a example of integration of effective and innovative online learning strategies including team-based and case based learning. The focus of the EDEMTET e-campus is a connected set of modules which cover clinical decision-making, evidence-based practice, and contextual factors which impact clinical decision-making. Theoretical teaching is combined with individual and team assignments centred around patient cases covering a wide variety of clinical conditions across the life course. Students from Europe and China will collaborate in teams to develop and discuss treatment plans, including identifying cultural issues, based on their appraisal of available scientific evidence. Through collaborative team-working, students will develop their skills in communication, giving and receiving peer feedback and critical appraisal of evidence. The EDEMTET e-campus will increase the accessibility of state-of-the-art dental education for a worldwide group of dental students, teachers and dental professionals.
