Session Description
This symposium will bring together academics, researchers, clinicians, and industry to showcase rapid developments in oral health behaviour change across local, national levels and the wider global stage. Three key academic figures in oral health behaviour change and an important industry representative will form the expert panel of speakers on the day.

Firstly, key theories and frameworks related to behaviour change and their application to oral health research and practice will be critically reviewed alongside a brief presentation of a UK initiative in creating a global network for those interested and working in oral health behaviour change; then, a crucial, recent policy change and national guidelines on oral health behaviour change from the UK will be shared, particularly paying attention to how academic notions of change can be realised in clinical practice; the third paper here will introduce specific initiatives to effect and sustain change in periodontal disease through the S3 (steps 1-3) treatment guidelines for periodontitis. Finally, the industry perspective on behaviour change will be outlined with a repertoire of industry-led projects related to oral health behaviour change will be outlined, paying particular emphasis on the vital role of technology . An open and thought-provoking discussion will follow the 4 speakers to provide a platform for voices, experiences, and lessons from the clinic, to academia, to policy to industry to come together.

   Learning Objectives
