2023 AADOCR/CADR Annual Meeting

Session Description 
The purpose of the symposium will be to educate oral medicine specialists, oral pathologists, dental professionals, scientists, and researchers, about the clinical presentation, management, and biopsy techniques for pemphigus and pemphigoid and the need for further and ongoing research on these diseases. The goal is to increase dental professionals’ confidence in their ability to recognize pemphigus/pemphigoid and facilitate early diagnosis, treatment and to understand the need for continuing research.

Learning Objectives
  • Know the key questions to ask when determining whether a patient might have pemphigus vulgaris (PV) or mucous membrane pemphigoid (MMP).Know the key questions to ask when determining whether a patient might have pemphigus vulgaris (PV) or mucous membrane pemphigoid (MMP).
  • Understand the basic science of P/P.
  • Understand appropriate biopsy techniques and referral patterns when PV/MMP is suspected.
