The Title Core Courses online course is a compilation of four 1-hour courses on each of four topics for renewal of a title insurance license: ethical practices in the marketing and selling of title insurance; requirements of the insurance laws and administrative rules of Indiana; principles of title insurance, including underwriting and escrow issues; and principles of the federal Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act.

Ethics for the Attorney and Title Agent – 1 hour
Join Elizabeth Berg, Northeast Region Underwriting Counsel for Agents National Title Insurance, and Danielle Kiser, Vice President and Regional Underwriting Counsel with North American Title Insurance Company, for a one-hour presentation on Ethics for the Attorney and Title Agent. This course covers the basic ethical guidelines utilized by attorneys and agents in the land title industry. Topics include definition of ethics, RESPA, best practices, values, ethical practices, red flags, and case studies as well as many other considerations that play into building an ethical business.

Title Insurance Claims – 1 hour
Ever wonder what happens after someone makes a claim on their title policy? Kurt Laker, partner at Doyle & Foutty, P.C., has the answers!Kurt will go over all the details of how a claim is made, who is involved in a claim, and how resolutions are reached, as well as give us some real life examples of claims in action. Put on your thinking caps and learn how to navigate the world of title claims. 

Nuts and Bolts of Title Curative – 1 hour
Karen Hart, Sr. Vice President/Director of Corporate Escrow Operations and a principal partner at Meridian Title Corporation, joins us to talk title curative. This course will cover legal descriptions, vesting, taxes and assessments, land liens as well as red flags, FIRPTA and other issues. Dig a little deeper and gain a better understanding of how to clear title issues to pave the way to closing. 

CFPB – RESPA – 1 hour
Join Laura Hardy, Vice-President and Division Underwriting Counsel for Old Republic National Title Insurance Company, as she covers the Consumer Financial Protections Bureau and its effects on the title industry as well as a review of RESPA. We’ll learn about selected consent orders and their related enforcement activities and think about how a new administration will impact the industry.
