This article from the Harvard Business review talks about the difference between diversity and inclusion, as well as sponsorship as a method to ensure inclusion. It also discusses the four areas that the Center for Talent Innovation (or Coqual: https://coqual.org/) uncovered through research which lead to true inclusion, one of which is inclusive leaders, which are people who engage in certain behaviors: ensuring that team members speak up and are heard; making it safe to propose novel ideas; empowering team members to make decisions; taking advice and implementing feedback; giving actionable feedback; and sharing credit for team success.
