third circuitUsing the ABA's Model Rules as a foundation, this course presentation is a discussion of remote lawyering. Sparked by the Pandemic's initial "lockdown," many lawyers and judges are working remotely and have been for more than 2 years. Although a return to the office has begun to happen, the reality is that many lawyers (and some judges!) prefer to continue working from home rather than in an office. This paradigm shift requires an accounting of the ethical and disciplinary rules that apply to remote work, such as: client communications, control and safeguarding of data and information and technology.
