There is increasing discussion about the relevance and adoption of article-level metrics (ALMs) over the more traditional measures of journal Impact Factor to gauge the impact of scientific publications. However, there are several types of ALMs (e.g. Altmetric, PlumX Metrics, EMPIRE index), each with inherent pros and cons, and a lack of clarity and consensus on how to interpret these indices. Moreover, many ALMs which examine publication reach and impact by looking at social engagement may not fully capture posts that are not in English . This adds an additional layer of complexity to the adoption of ALMs in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. During this webinar we will discuss the driving force behind this shift towards ALMs and their relevance in the APAC region.
