Webinar Description:
Communication is a cornerstone for building and strengthening the relationship between consultants and clients. Communication from initial contact with a potential new client sets the stage and through project delivery is vital in establishing and maintaining strong connections with clients. This webinar will provide tips and tricks from both the consultant perspective as well as provide insight into the public sector expectations. It will also offer tips for effective communication.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize the important aspects of communicating with clients.
  • Identify the Public Sector expectations regarding communication.
  • Learn tips and tricks to improve communication.

  • Dale Picha, P.E., Traffic Operations Manager | Texas DOT | San Antonio, TX, United States

    Dale Picha is the transportation operations manager for the 12-county Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) San Antonio District, overseeing all of the traffic engineering and ITS functions for those counties. He has worked in the transportation field for 25 years, including with the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) and with both the City of Bryan, TX, USA and City of College Station, TX, USA. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University, with Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Civil Engineering, a Licensed Professional Engineer in Texas, and a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer. Dale is a long-time member of ITE, having served at the Section and District levels in Texas, and most recently, representing the Texas District on the ITE International Board of Direction from 2018-2020.

  • Jimmie Gonzalez, Jr., Director of Learning & Development | VHB, Inc | Orlando, FL, United States

    Jimmie Gonzalez is not known for sitting still. In his new position as Director of Learning and Development, Jimmie is busy developing content and programming to help VHBers grow professionally and personally, as well as building a team to support an expanded vision of L&D at VHB. When he’s not in his Orlando office, Jimmie channels his energy into his family and myriad hobbies and interests that fuel his own personal growth.

  • Ken Ackeret, Ph.D., P.E., PTOE, Principal | Kimley-Horn and Associates | Las Vegas, NV, United States

    Dr. Ken Ackeret is an ITE Fellow with more than 40 years of experience in the field of Transportation Engineering. Throughout Ken’s career, he has developed a wealth of applied and academic knowledge as a transportation professional. He is a recognized author of various ITE Journal articles. Ken is a Principal with Kimley-Horn and Associates in their Las Vegas office. As an active member of ITE since 1986, Ken is a Charter Member of the Nevada Chapter and has served in numerous elected ITE positions including President of the Intermountain Section, and Western District President in 2006. After serving as Western District International Director from 2009 to 2011, Ken was elected to the Transportation Professional Certification Board serving 6 years of which he served 2 years as Board as Chairman over the PTOE and PTP certifications. He is very proud to have been a part of the creation of the Road Safety Professional “RSP” Safety Certification. His wife Kathy and Ken enjoy driving their Corvettes and being with their friends and family. Especially their ITE friends at annual meetings across the country.
