Rural ITS in Multi-State Corridors

This webinar is led by National ITS Steering Committee.

Webinar Description:
Multi-state corridor coalitions are a concept that has evolved in the 30 plus years since they came into existence around services related to interstate highway corridors. The overarching goal of multi-state corridor coalitions is to promote interagency planning, research, cooperation, and shared implementation for programs and projects to improve multimodal transportation system management and operations. In many cases, achieving this goal involves the application of the intelligent transportation system (ITS) technologies in urban and rural areas. The purpose of this is to share a sample of rural ITS activities of some of multi-state corridor coalitions.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the challenges of reinvigorating a corridor coalition after a lapse in funding.
  • Recognize how multi-state corridor coalition help deploy ITS in rural environments.
  • Describe example projects that benefit multiple states’ agencies in an interjurisdictional manner or have portability to other agencies.
