This webinar is led by ITE Traffic Engineering Council.
Pedestrian detection at signalized intersections has long relied upon push buttons. Yet pedestrians at traffic signals often do not push buttons, and misinformation regarding push buttons is rampant.
Historically, detecting the presence of pedestrians without requiring them to push buttons has been a desire for traffic signals. COVID, and the reluctance of people to push buttons accelerated this desire. However, available technology was expensive, hard to maintain, and not very precise. This webinar will review available products for providing passive pedestrian detection at traffic signals.
- List innovations in the field of pedestrian detection at signalized intersections.
- Describe the state of the practice for passive and touchless pedestrian detection
- Explain available products that can be specified on projects for passive pedestrian detection
