Wrong-Way Driving Crashes: Predictive Models and Low-Cost Countermeasures

This webinar is led by ITE Data Driven Safety Analysis Committee.

Webinar Description:

This webinar provides an overview of recent research efforts to mitigate WWD issues in Alabama. Content will include the mathematical models and network screening tools for full diamond and partial cloverleaf (parclo) interchanges, and effectiveness of low-cost countermeasures, such as directional rumble strips (DRS), signs, and pavement markings, to mitigate WWD. The webinar will also discuss the guidelines for implementing the DRS on off-ramps.

Learning Objectives:

  • List network screening tools to rank parclo ramp terminals for WWD Risks
  • Describe the current guidelines for low-cost countermeasures for deterring WWD
  • Data Driven Systemic Approach to Reduce WWD Crashes
