Module Description

Transportation is a major factor in everyday life, and comes with multiple social, environmental, and institutional issues. This module starts with a review of environmental considerations, including environmental policy and impact studies, including a review of air quality and emissions analyses, noise analyses, and the impacts of climate change. Transportation and land use planning is also discussed, with a background in planning regulations, travel demand modeling, land development, and complete streets solutions. Multimodal considerations are enumerated, with a discussion of transit and shared mobility issues. Legal issues are reviewed and the need for traffic regulations defined. Finally, transportation equity and access issues are reviewed, including environmental justice, accessibility, and the impacts on public health.
