Webinar Description:
Vision Zero and related programs in the U.S. and Canada regularly report on progress in advancing program goals. Reports often include dashboards and other data portals that present historic and current trends in number of fatalities and serious injuries. Reports cite measures to advance safe systems, traffic calming, vehicle speed management, enforcement, public consultation, equity and vulnerable populations.

The purpose of this webinar is to bring together transportation professionals and government officials to identify established practices in presenting results of ongoing VZ programs, approaches to provide maximum transparency in reporting both successes and setbacks, information needed to maintain program support and acceptance, and issues associated with obtaining reliable, applicable and timely data sources.

Learning Objectives:

Deliver a comprehensive assessment of historical and current results of a Vision Zero program.
Recognize alternative methods for describing fully the multi-dimensional impact of measures implemented by a Vision Zero program.
Identify presentation methods that help establish an agenda for future work for a Vision zero program.
Describe ways to communicate Vision Zero program results to those working in the organization responsible for program implementation, other agencies with supporting roles, elected officials, interest groups and affected individuals and the general public.

Policies: The webinar recording will be made available on-demand it will have a shelf life of 60 days to register before it is archived. Participants are able to purchase and retrieve their PDH credit certificate until their access to the content expires. After the content expires and goes into archive, the PDH credit certificate opportunity is forfeited.

Ann Marie Doherty, Senior Director of Research, Implementation & Safety (RIS) Division of Transportation Planning & Management | New York City Department of Transportation | New York, NY, United States

Ann Marie Doherty has been working for the NYC Department of Transportation since 1990 in various roles relating to planning, engineering and safety. Currently, she is managing RIS, a multi-disciplinary team focused on Vision Zero and eliminating fatalities and severe injuries throughout NYC through innovative street redesigns, robust data analytics and research, and policy recommendations.

Ms. Doherty is responsible for conducting complex planning and safety studies and developing safety programs and projects based upon robust data-driven analysis. She oversees the planning, designing and implementation of street improvement projects and safety programs citywide, including Bus Stops Under the El, Safe Streets for Seniors, Raised Crosswalks, Speed Reducers and School Safety. Her unit also is responsible for the analysis of crash data which is used to target high crash intersections and corridors in need of safety intervention.
Christine E. Mayeur, AICP, Safety Projects Team Lead | District Department of Transportation | Washington, D.C., United States

Christine E. Mayeur is the team lead for the new Safety Projects Team for Washington DC and serves as DDOT’s liaison to the DC Vision Zero Office. She has worked with Vision Zero initiatives leading on both the private and public sector sides, before joining the District Department of Transportation, she was part of the DC Vision Zero Office under the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Operations and Infrastructure. In this role she led the development the 2022 Update to the Vision Zero Action Plan to refocus the District agency’s efforts on a more strategic path to Vision Zero. As a consultant, she assisted with the development of the DC Vision Zero Plan of Action in 2015, led the Alexandria’s Vision Zero Action Plan in 2017 and subsequently joined the City of Alexandria becoming the Complete Streets Program Manager to begin to implement the plan.
Bryan Redmond, Assistant Program Coordinator for Safety and Asset Management | Metropolitan Transportation Commission | San Francisco Bay Area, California, United States

Bryan coordinates development of regional strategies for addressing the traffic safety problem facing the San Francisco Bay Area, including development of a regionwide safety database, identifying funding sources for regional traffic safety work, and coordinating a regional working group focused on addressing the traffic safety problem. He coordinated development of a regional Vision Zero Action Plan that covered the nine counties and 101 cities in the Bay Area. Outside of safety, he also manages the MTC’s Transit Asset Management program, including management of a regional transit capital asset database, modeling of long term capital needs for transit state of good repair, and development of a regional TAM plan.
