Webinar Description:
This webinar will discuss mega-events organized and hosted by ITE student chapters. These "mega-events" are events where multiple student chapters come together for an event or activity. Identifying and executing these methods of collaboration amongst student chapters can foster community amongst students and create new networking opportunities. Through this webinar, we will hear from two student chapters on mega-events they have led, and the outcomes of these events.

Thus, this webinar will describe methods of formulating a mega-event amongst student chapters, ideas for collaboration, available resources used by the student chapters, and challenges and highlights of these events.

Learning Objectives:

Explain strategies to create an engaging and educational event for students
Analyze the benefits and challenges of working together across different student chapters
Understand the various resources available for organizing such mega-events
Describe the steps taken to formalize the agenda of the event including the list of keynote speakers and guests
Identify key metrics used to measure the success of the event

Policies: The webinar recording will be made available on-demand it will have a shelf life of 60 days to register before it is archived. Participants are able to purchase and retrieve their PDH credit certificate until their access to the content expires. After the content expires and goes into archive, the PDH credit certificate opportunity is forfeited.

Dr. Alyssa Ryan is an Assistant Professor in transportation engineering at the University of Arizona. Her research group focuses on leveraging advanced technologies and data analytics to address the safety, economic, and equity challenges faced by transportation agencies. She is currently the Vice Chair of the ITE Education Council.
Reza Aminghafouri, PhD Candidate | University of Waterloo | Waterloo, Ontario, Canada

Reza is a PhD candidate in Transportation Engineering at the University of Waterloo, and is dedicated to road safety projects. With over 7 years of professional experience at companies like Siemens and Miovision, he gained a high level of teamwork and project management skills. As the former President of the University of Waterloo ITE Chapter, he led a team of 13 excellent students and as a result, their chapter won the both Canadian District and International ITE Student Chapter Momentum Awards in 2023.
Liana Tran, Student | UC Berkeley | Berkeley, California, United States

Liana is a sophomore at UC Berkeley who was an active member of Cal ITE during the student chapter mega event, Minipac. She is now on the leadership board for the upcoming school year, where she wishes to continue making connections with the greater ITE community.
Bryan Kao, Transit Intern | Kimley-Horn | Oakland, California, United States

Bryan was active in Cal ITE during his four years as an undergrad, serving in leadership positions for two years. He was one of the main organizers of Cal ITE’s Minipac event. Since graduating in May 2023, Bryan is starting his career in transit planning with Kimley-Horn.
